The Coconut Cult Craze: Hype or Gut Health Hero?
Gut health is having a moment right now, and Cultured coconut yoghourt aka, Coconut Cult is the latest craze. If you haven’t seen it all over your social feed yet, let me break it down for you.
What Is Cultured Coconut Yoghourt?
Think of it as yoghourt’s cooler, gut-friendly cousin. Instead of dairy, it’s made from coconut milk and fermented with probiotics. The result is a thick, tangy, dairy-free yoghourt that’s packed with gut-loving bacteria.
Who (or What) Is Coconut Cult?
The Coconut Cult is the brand that turned this into a full-blown obsession. They sell small jars of highly potent, probiotic-rich coconut yoghourt - so potent that they actually tell you to start slow because of the gut-cleansing effects. And at $35 per jar, it’s not cheap.
Why Is Everyone Going Mad About It?
Because gut health = overall health. A happy gut means better digestion, reduced bloating, glowing skin, maintaining your weight and even improved hormone balance (which we need in midlife!). Coconut cultured yoghourt is loaded with probiotics that help feed good bacteria, support digestion, and keep your tummy feeling its best.
The good news? You don’t need to spend $$$ (or €€€) to get the benefits - you can make your own!

Here’s how to whip up a gut-loving, chocolatey version at home:
Chocolate Cult: DIY Cultured Coconut YoghOurt
1 can of full-fat coconut milk
4g probiotics (open capsules and use only the inside)
½ a not-too-ripe banana
2 heaped tbsp raw cacao
2 tsp honey
Mix everything together in a clean glass jar.
Cover with a muslin cloth and let it sit at room temperature for 24 hours until it gets bubbly
Pop it in the fridge to chill for another 24 hours before eating. It should have a mousse-like consistency
That’s it! Creamy, probiotic-rich, and way cheaper than the store-bought version.
